133: New Distraction
February 11, 2024
Hi, everyone,
The plan for today was to share a personal story about the economy. As we all know, life doesn’t always follow our well-laid out intentions. I do have a story to share, just something a bit different.
Over the weekend Kushal and I welcomed a new member to our family. Meet Sonali! Her name is pronounced s-oh-nah-lee, like Mount Denali but with an “S.” She’s an eight-week-old rescue puppy. We think she’s a mix of Anatolian Shepherd and Border Collie, one of seven in her litter who were found abandoned in an orchard. We picked her out of the group because she was the most adventurous and social. Eventually, we hope she will join us in all our outdoor activities—from the mountains to the sea.
For now, though, she’s just a little girl who needs a lot of love and attention. We’re all adjusting to becoming a family of three. Kushal’s learning what it means to be a responsible brother, who suddenly doesn’t get all the attention anymore, and I remember what it’s like to be a new mom of a little tiny creature. She chews on everything, poops and pees everywhere, and only lets you sleep a couple hours at a time. The similarities between puppy parenting and actual parenting are astonishing.
So today, soak up the puppy cuteness and let all the problems of the world fade away. That’s all my sleep-deprived brain has to offer this week, which is probably everything we need. I’ll check back next week with an update.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who is a paid subscriber to this blog. In 2025, all content will be accessible to all subscriber types. That makes paid contributions even more special. It means that you see and value my work, even when you get nothing exclusive in return. Thank you. That is a living and breathing example of an Intentional Alternative.

Congratulations to the new addition to the family!
U see big smiles in the pictures ..!!
