This sort of reminds me of Tim Eyman’s tactics here in Washington State. His proposed initiatives seem fair and good for the people but on closer inspection actually undermine the very thing he is proposing.

This was another informative post, Susan. And chilling. The majority of this current Supreme Court are antithetical to justice. John Roberts set out to dismantle Voting Rights and he has now gone beyond the pale. As well as taking on the role of King Maker. These are scary times.

It’s so hard not to get angry after learning about people like Blum. Their actions have long-term consequences. Although this result is considered a “win” for the nonprofit, it feels so unjust. It reminds me of Phyllis Schlafly and what her counter advocacy did to early learning access in the US. The damage she caused is multi-generational.

Anger is a very useful and appropriate response Stacie, and what we do with it matters. First, we can use it as a signal to recognize and name division tactics. Then, we can demand a different approach. Especially as white women. We have to stop aligning with the people who are causing inequities, as a trade for personal gain. They had no case without the three anonymous white women. At the very least, our anger can protect us from becoming the problem.
